VEX Robotics team robots and tournament awards

My earliest engineering work came through Anderson High School's VEX Robotics Club, where I served as team lead — designing, building, and iterating competition robots from initial concept through elimination rounds.

Each season started from a new game rule set, which meant re-deriving the drivetrain, intake, and scoring mechanism from scratch rather than reusing a fixed design. I ran iterative design cycles with individual mechanical testing on each subsystem, working from early functioning models through to a final competition prototype. I also programmed the robot in C++ — both precise human-driver control functions and automated movement routines for efficiency during autonomous rounds.

Beyond the robot itself, leading the club meant managing events and finances, building schedules, and simplifying communication across the team. I also handled sponsorship outreach, marketing the team to local businesses and raising over $2,000 in sponsorship from more than 20 sponsors to fund parts, entry fees, and travel.
